I rarely write reviews but Gwen deserves one. This will be a long one.

I am out of state and we have been looking at real estate in Southern Maine for years. When it became time to go for it, I researched realtors in the area and came across a video that Gwen made. Everything she said clicked with me. I could tell she wasn't "fake" and as corny as it sounds had a good heart. I like doing business with awesome people and I decided to reach out.

A couple weeks or so later my wife and I went up to see a property with Gwen. The photos made it look so nice but when we pulled up we were immediately turned off by the property. A couple minutes later Gwen showed up. It would have been so easy for her to try and sell us on this property so that she could make an easy commission. But instead, before we even gave her our opinion, she said something along the lines of

"Yeah this property will need a lot of blasting, removal and a ton of work before you can even start building. It might not be the best property for us to go after"

I think she could tell that we weren't really loving it as well. I've been around a lot of realtors and unfortunately the majority I've met just want to make that sale. Gwen is the complete opposite. She wants what is best for her clients.

A couple months or so later a property in Ogunquit popped up. Gwen went over to the place for me and did a FaceTime. It was an older building. Gwen inspected every little detail while on the phone with me. Pointing out things that were wrong with the property. And then later mentioned there was a slight musty smell to the property, which is a deal breaker for us.

Again, almost any other realtor would be trying to point out all of the "good" things about the property. And try to sell us on putting an offer. With Gwen there was never any pressure for us to put an offer out there which I sincerely appreciate as investing in a property is stressful enough without that.

Let's fast forward to when we found a lot with a builder tied to it that we ultimately decided to go put an offer on. New construction was very new to us and if you don't have someone knowledgeable guiding you during the process it can be a nightmare. Gwen has sold new construction developments and knows the ins/outs of everything.

There was a lot of back forth during the process with choosing a home plan, negotiating allowances for building material and a whole lot more. It's stressful, especially if you were doing it on your own.

During every step of the way Gwen guided us into making the best decisions we could. Which ended up saving us a bunch of money on certain things too. Gwen even caught a mistake done on the appraisal that could have costed us an extra 50k. It's things like this that you won't catch that they do.

Our home is now just about ready to break ground and we are super excited.

This is turning into a very long review and I could keep going on as it was quite the process but if you are in need of a real estate team in southern Maine I HIGHLY suggest Gwen. They are people that I plan on getting together with just to hang out when we are in the area!

This was not our first house purchase, but it was our first in New England. Gwen was very knowledgeable and pointed out features that we were unfamiliar to us like, oil tanks, boilers, wells and sump pumps when we were touring homes.  She was also very patient and drove from Freeport to Kennebunk looking at many houses (sometimes the same house twice) with us all while maintaining a super positive attitude!  We were only in town for one week house hunting and were so lucky to have found one we loved.  After our week together we had developed a friendship with Gwen and trusted her implicitly to represent us during our long distance negotiations.  She kept in touch regularly inquiring about our West Coast house sale as well as keeping us up to date on our Kennebunk purchase.  Gwen made closing seamless!  On the very day we arrived in town after a 3,000 mile journey she went above and beyond by delivering a cake and ice cream on closing day to our new home so we could celebrate our daughter's 8th birthday!  Our family highly recommends Gwen Genest to anyone purchasing a home.

When picking a real estate agent, it's fairly easy to find a highly rated agent and/or agency that is professional, courteous, and can get the job done. Gwen met all of those qualities, and then some.  Not only was she kind and knowledgeable and highly responsive, she also added the personal touch to real estate that I felt I was missing with other agents I have had previously.
